The Bafokeng Diaspora initiative is a developing plan of action that requires the participation of the Bafokeng diaspora to succeed. This initiative aims to provide a platform where you can reconnect with your cultural heritage, contribute to the development of your homeland, and foster global collaboration. To ignite the Bafokeng diaspora flame, three streams of participation have been identified.
Cultural Exchange Programme
The cultural exchange programme aims to foster mutual understanding, respect, and appreciation among members of the diaspora community and the local population. It provides an opportunity for individuals to immerse themselves in different cultural contexts, exchange ideas, and build long-lasting connections. The programme will focus on cultural & heritage exchange activities, such as language learning, traditional arts and crafts workshops, culinary experiences, and cultural performances. LEARN MORE
Skills Transfer Programme
The skill transfer programme aims to harness the expertise and talents of diaspora community members and facilitate the transfer of skills and knowledge to benefit both the diaspora and the Bafokeng community at large. The programme will focus on identifying areas of expertise within the diaspora community and creating platforms for sharing and mentoring. Participants will be invited to register their skills, experience, and areas of interest through a survey. A matching process will then pair participants on a voluntary basis with local individuals or organizations seeking to benefit from specific skills sets. Furthermore, Skilled diaspora members will be encouraged to become mentors and trainers, sharing their knowledge with interested individuals or organizations in the host country. LEARN MORE
Mentorship and Economic Development
The Diaspora Connect mentorship and economic development programme is a comprehensive initiative designed to empower Grade 11 and 12 learners, first-year university students, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) within the diaspora community. The programme aims to provide mentorship, guidance, and resources to facilitate personal and professional growth, as well as foster entrepreneurship and economic development, by connecting individuals within the community with experienced and knowledgeable mentors from the Diaspora.
